An complete copper alloy finger ring.  The ring is keeled and has a blind bezel. The sloping shoulders are triangular and undecorated. The downward points of the triangles are flanked by angled projections. The band is narrow and D-sectioned. The bezel is hexagonal and decorated with stamped circular dots but it is too worn to discern any pattern. The inside of the ring is flat and smooth. A Post Medieval gold finger ring. A posy ring with the internal inscription Let vertue be thy guide in italic lettering. There is no maker’s or other mark. The hoop has a D-shaped cross section and is slightly distorted into an oval shape. Dimensions: 21.70 mm x 2.25 mm x 0.80 mm Weight: 1.78 g This inscription is common on rings from the later 17th to mid-18th century. Judy Rudoe of the British Museum has noted that in the absence of a makers mark there is insufficient evidence to confirm that the ring was over 300 years old when fond in 2021 (pers comm 18/11/2022).

The hoop is oval in profile and D-shaped in section, tapering from the wide (10 mm wide), slightly bevelled shoulders to the narrower base (4 mm wide) of the hoop. The roughly circular collet on the oval bezel is formed from a raised collar which creates a recess, now empty, which would have contained an intaglio made from glass or a gemstone. An incomplete copper alloy finger ring of Henig Type III dating to 43 to 300 AD. The band is oval shaped and D-shaped in cross-section and expands from the shoulders to the outer section, which is the widest part of the ring. Gold finger ring with an external inscription. The band is flat with a rectangular cross section and is slightly mis-shapen. On the exterior is an incised blackletter inscription with the words alternating with sprigs. Date: Medieval - 1350 - 1450 Dimensions: 19.03mm x 0.98 mm Weight: 2.59 g Malcolm Jones has transcribed the inscription as: coer corps et vye -"heart, body and soul/life" and has noted that "life" can be taken to equate with "soul" in this context.

The ring has an oval hoop with straight sub-triangular sloping shoulders, although now worn, these appear to have originally had a wide central ridge.
