Roman silver denarius of Julia Soaemias dating to the period AD 219 to 222 (Reece period 10). VENVS CAELESTIS reverse type depicting Venus, diademed, seated left holding apple and sceptre and at her feet a child. Minted at Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p.48 / Elagabalus. no. 243. Areas of copper corrosion are present on the surface but it is not clearly plated and the corrosion is probably the result of the debased silver (c.50% silver or less) of this issue.
