Nine sherds of Medieval pottery. Irregularly fired fabric ranging from dark grey to orange, tempered with, poorly sorted, common fragments of quartz sand, calcareous stone and flint (up to 6mm) and finer sand. Some pieces have large voids, probably from leeching out of the calcareous component. Seven body sherds, one base sherd and one rim sherd. The base is slightly sagging and the rim is flat-topped, in-turned and has an external bead. The rim and base are from cooking jars, and several of the body sherds sre likely to be from such vessels. The vessel wall is thinned from the rim. The interior surface appears smoothed whilst the exterior is rougher and covered in horzontal scratches. There are traces of sooting on the exterior. Fragment from a copper alloy vessel. This is a large vessel leg probably from a cauldron. The fragment consists of the foot and part of the leg, which is has an irregular break at the top. The leg is tri-lobate in section with a rounded, prominent ridge running up the centre of the front of the leg. The back of the leg is flat. The foot projects forwards from the leg and has a triangular profile. The base of the foot apears mis-cast and is slightly hollowed and rough.The surface of the leg is quite pitted and bumpy. A probably medieval lead mend for a pottery vessel. An irregularly shaped piece lead with one large plate and one smaller. The larger plate is sub-triangular with a smoothed surface and a slightly chamfered edge around it (5.55 mm thick). The smaller plate is much thinner (1.87 mm thick) and also roughly triangular. It has a more uneven surface. At one side the plates appear to be joined and there are also two thin bars of lead joining the together at another. I sherd of glazed earthernware. A fragment of pottery handle. The fabric is grey-white with some slight, orange oxidisation at the margins below the glaze. It is tempered with abundant, fairly fine sand and has no other visible inclusions. The handle is decorated on its upper surface with a line of impressed four-quadrant, circular stamps, two and a half of them on the remaining fragment.
