A saltglaze vessel sherd from a Rhenish flagon of circa AD1530-AD1570. The sherd consists of a male portrait roundel. In Ivor Noel Humes book, If These Pots Could Talk, Page 119 there is a illustration of a Rhenish flagon depicting a benign graybeard mask ("male portrait roundels") and acanthus fronds with a inscription horizontally midway on the pot which reads: FVR EINEN GOTEN DRUVNCK. translates as ( hooray for a good drink) .Height of sherd: 24.03 mm. Width: 22.99 mm. Thickness: 4.15 mm. Weight: 2.840 grams.

Bronze age to Medieval pottery vessel sherds. The pottery appears hand built, has rough fabric with large gritty inclusions and lots of mica. It has a thick section and some sherds have evdience of sooting on the outer? surface. It was found in a very tight scatter disturbed by tractor, near a Bronze Age barrow cemetery. So its probable that it is prehistoric, however pottery such as this is known in the area up to the medieval period.

An incomplete medieval copper-alloy zoomorphic spout in the form of a dog's head dating to the period c. AD 1400 - 1500. The spout is from a ewer and exhibits a small section broken off at the base where is would have been attached to the body of the vessel and a small hole in the underside. The mouth of the spout protrudes from the open mouth of the dog's head. It has moulded eyes and stylised ears on either side of the head, the details of which are slightly worn. The pot leg is sub-triangular in section, with a flat back and five worn, rounded, vertical ribs to the front. The fragment has two breaks, one of which appears to be more recent, with a lighter green patina and angular edges. The remaining surface has a dark green patina. A cast copper alloy leg from a metal cooking vessel such as a cauldron or skillet. It has a D-shaped cross section with the flat side at the back. The back has a slight longitudinal groove. The front of the leg is decorated with five parallel longitudinal ribs with the central one being slightl wider than the others. The foot is rounded and asymmetrical from wear. It would have been one of three on a complete vessel. Date: Medieval to Post Medieval - c. 1250 - 1700 Dimensions: 37.78 mm x 22.74 mm x 12.00 mm Weight: 45.67 mm

A cast lead-alloyvessel repair patch,( pot mend ) from the Roman to Medieval period, circa 43 to 1500 . It is roughly oval in plan and H-shaped in section. There is no ceramic material surviving within the recess, so a close date cannot be established. The ceramic thickness at point of repair is 3.90 mm. The object has an off-white patina with patches of metal showing through at the edges. Dimensions are: 40.90 mm x 29.78 mm. Thickness: 11.91 mm. Weight: 57 grams. References: SOM-4A8056. GLO-922746.

A lipped pedestal base with incised concentric grooves on the underside. Date: Roman - 3rd to 4th century Weight - 51 g
