A fragment of a copper alloy vessel of probable post-medieval date. It is difficult to be certain if this is a rim or a base fragment. It is possibly a piece of a base from a pedestal footed vessel. It has a curved outer edge with a groove and ridge around the circumference. The vessel is thinned considerably from the edge.

1 large sherd of internally glazed red ware. The fabric is reduced pale grey with an oxidised exterior surface and tempered with fine sand. The internal surface is covered in a pale green glaze which also overlaps the rim. A rim sherd from a jar. The rim is wide and slightly everted with an internal lid seat at its base. On the exterior of the rim at the vessel shoulder is an applied strip with thumb decoration. Wheelmade. Some abrasion. Date: Early post-medieval - late 16th to 17th century

A Rim sherd from a domestic vessel. The rim is flat topped and is sub-rectangular in plan, with the wall of the vessel curving inwards. The lead glaze has a mottled black/brown colour with a good gloss which suggests an oxidized firing. The fabric is tempered with sand which is finely sorted, with only slight reduction to the core of the fabric. The rim has been compressed during the throwing process and has a low porosity which suggests a near vitrification point has been reached. Possibly from Verwood. Late 17th to mid 18th century.

A earthenware rim sherd of a probable platter of 17th to early 18th century date and possibly a Verwood piece. The Fabric is buff in colour and has been tempered with fine sand/quartz. The rim is sub triangular with the top angled outwards. The base has an offset foot ring of which there is a potter's finger impression. The olive green lead glaze has been enriched with iron and possibly manganese staining which has run towards the rim. This indicates a rim-to-rim stacking within the kiln. Dimensions are; Length 57.5 mm Height 34.1mm. Thickness 15.9 mm. Weight 30 grams.

A wheel thrown pottery base sherd of post-Medieval date. The sherd is hard, with a pink internal colour and is orange externally. The fabric is finely sanded and the core reveals light reduction. The base is everted and angled downwards, with a trimmed edge to the underside. The base reveals no evidence of wire cut of marks. There is no evidence of glaze and the sherd was probably a storage jar of local manufacture, probably Verwood and circa late 17th-18th century. Dimensions are; Width 73.47 mm. Height 33.14 mm. Weight 77 grams. Base diameter c. 160 mm.

The lower portion of a leg from a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel. The leg base is sub-triangular and the upper edge is sub-oval in cross section.The outer face of the leg has a prominent vertical ridge which is triangular in section and tapers towards the base. There is evidence of sooting. Due to its size,it is probably from a cauldron. These are problematic to date closely when found out of contex as they were used over a long time span; however, it almost certainly dates from the Late Medieval to post-Medieval periods. See WAW 12EF35 for a similar example.

An incomplete copper-alloy vessel handle missing its terminal. The handle still retains its two fixing rivets, with an attached fragment of the copper-alloy vessel. File marks are evident and the casting is not symmetrical. The handle has a mottled olive green patina. Probably of post-Medieval date, but no parallel has been traced. An abraded base sherd of post-medieval South Somerset ware probably dating from the 17th-18th centuries. The fabric has a light orange core with buff surfaces and margins. Inclusions include frequent very fine quartz (0.1mm), and occasional iron. The surfaces may have originally been glazed (although no trace survives) or wiped. It is probably of Donyatt fabric DPT7 and derives from a vessel with a low pedestal base. The sherd measures 47.56 x 48.19 x 9.36mm thick and weighs 31.57g.

A single small body sherd of post-medieval lead glazed earthenware dating from the 17th-18th century. The fabric is light orange in colour with very fine inclusions of rounded quartz (<0.1mm) and occasional iron oxide. The fabric is typical of pottery produced at Donyatt in South Somerset. The glaze is well formed and greenish-amber in colour. The sherd measures 35.07mm long, 24.14mm wide, 5.87mm thick and weighs 5.60g.

A saltglaze vessel sherd from a Rhenish flagon of circa AD1530-AD1570. The sherd consists of a male portrait roundel. In Ivor Noel Humes book, If These Pots Could Talk, Page 119 there is a illustration of a Rhenish flagon depicting a benign graybeard mask ("male portrait roundels") and acanthus fronds with a inscription horizontally midway on the pot which reads: FVR EINEN GOTEN DRUVNCK. translates as ( hooray for a good drink) .Height of sherd: 24.03 mm. A Post-Medieval copper alloy pot leg, of Butler, Green and Payne's type C, probably dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The leg is sub-rectangular in plan and plano-convex in cross-section, with a prominent transverse collar dividing the foot and leg, with the latter lost to an old break. The inside edge is flat and plain, whilst the foot has five prominent longitudinal ridges down its front. Dimensions: length 46.7mm; width 26.1mm; thickness 18.0mm; weight 68.01g. Butler, Green & Payne (2009) classify such legs as their type C, in use by the 16th century and ubiquitous by the 17th.

The foot is trapezoidal in section, tapering into a slightly rounded rear and with three longitudinal raised ribs running down the front, flaring slightly towards the base. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The leg widens and spreads outwards at the base forming a trapezoid foot. Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) suggest there were four main types of leg used. The foot is sub-trapezoidal in cross section, with the front, broad, face cast into three parallel longitudinal ribs and a central longitudinal ridge on the reverse. The underside is slightly concave and shows signs of sooting. Dimensions: length 43.0mm; width 52.3mm; thickness 15.3mm; weight 106.23g This is an example of Butler, Green and Payne's type A, which they suggest was in use throughout the medieval period and into the 17th century.

A complete silver to handled vessel, possibly a bowl or cup. The vessel is squashed and folded almost flat.One handle remains attached the other has been removed and is also twisted along its length. A sherd of Post Medieval earthenware pottery with internal glaze. East Dorset (Verwood) industry. The fabric is sandy and originally oxidised to a buff colour. It has since become a reduced grey as a result of secondary firing during use in a hearth. The internal surface is glazed dark green. A base sherd from a tripod footed cooking vessel, probably a pipkin. There is the scar from the loss of one of the feet at the edge of the flat base.
