1 sherd of early medieval coarseware. The fabric is reduced and pale grey except for the oxidised exterior surface which is orangey-red. It contains abundant poorly sorted temper of rounded quartz sand, flint, chert and calcareous pieces (up to 5 mm). The inclusions are prominemt and protruce through the surface of the vessel. A base sherd from a Roman Oxfordshire red slipped ware vessel dating to the period c. AD 240 - 410. The sherd consists of part of a circular foot ring with edges terminating in old breaks. The fabric is orange in colour. It exhibits mica inclusions. The surfaces are coated in a smooth orange-red slip which has been heavily abraded.

The remaining profile of the sherd suggests that it probably derives from a bowl of Young's form C40 - C96.

A small bodysherd of a Medieval vessel dating to c. AD 1100-1500. The fabric is a hard fired, rough and sandy with abundant translucent grey/white sandy quartz inclusions. The outer surface is a buff colour and smooth with a row of vertical rouletted lines (and possibly a second row just visible). The inner surface is a darker buff colour with some patches of darker grey and is rough and gritty. The core is a darker unoxidised grey.

One sherd of Medieval pottery. A sherd of unglazed earthenware. The fabric is reduced grey-brown at the core with orange-red oxidisation on the internal margin. It has a poorly sorted mixed temper including fine sand, pieces of white quartzite ( up to 2 mm) and calcareous pieces. The rim from a small, hand made jar. The rim is inturned. The sherd is very abraded.

1 large sherd of pottery. It has a reduced dark grey core and oxidised buff surfaces. The fabric is tempered with abundant, fairly coarse sand. The sherd is part of a strap handle and rim from a jug/pitcher. The handle attaches to the upper surface of the rim, rising slightly and tapering before curving downward into a thick sub-rectangular section before it is broken (this break is more recent than those on the vessel rim). A sherd of glazed earthernware pottery. The fabric has a reduced pale grey core and oxidised pinkish-buff margins. The fabric is tempered with abundant fine sand and occasional grey stone pieces. The external surface is decorated with a yellow-green glaze. One post-medieval sherd of internally glazed erthern ware pottery, dating to AD 1500-1650. The fabric is oxidised buff with moderate quartz sand temper. The interior surface is slipped and glazed. The slip is cream coloured and the glaze is bright green. A rim sherd from a jar or bowl. The rim is plain with a deep external bead. There are girth grooves externally surface below the rim. It is wheelthrown with very little abrasion.

A fragment of a Roman ceramic vessel base, dating to c AD260 - 400. It is a hard grey fabric, without inclusions. There is evidence of a dark grey or brown wash. The base is circular, with a short pedestal which flares out to a short section of circular body before early damage caused the rest of the vessel to break away. On the underside of the pedestal is a central raised dot.Lightly inscribed circumferential grooves can be seen on the extant body. Probably a New Forest fineware thumb pot or beaker.

A fragment of Late Medieval Wessex coarseware ceramic rim, dating to c. AD 1200-1400. This fragment is sub rectangular in shape with a very narrow rim which is incomplete in some areas. The fabric is a cream colour and fairly smooth in texture. No obvious inclusions visible.

A rim sherd of a Roman Terra Sigillata or Samian fineware vessel dating c. AD 40-200.
The sherd is triangular and worn and abraded with a beaded rim. There is a deep glossy red slip remaining on the internal surface and a small area on the external wall, but no other decoration. The fabric is pale orange red with abundant sorted white limestone inclusions and occasional red iron ore inclusions.
Measurements: length14.63mm, width 18.34mm, thickness 5.20mm, weight 0.98 g.
The inclusion suggest it may be Central Gaulish ware from Les Martres-de-Veyre.

A group of seven Post Medieval Verwood ware sherds, dating to the period cAD 1600-1900. The group comprises two rim sherds, one handle sherd, one base sherd and three body sherds.
The fabric of the two rim sherds is hard, and light orange-pink in colour. A green-yellow glaze is on one of the rim surfaces, possibly a plate, while the other, sturdier vessel, has a pale orange glaze . The breaks are worn.

An incomplete Medieval ceramic handle dating to c. AD 1200-1300. The find appears to be the top part of a handle as there is a thumb indentation where it joins the vessel wall. The opposite end is lost due to an old break. The handle is made from a pale fired fabric, pale pink in colour with no visible inclusions. There is a greenish brown glaze applied to the inside part of the vessel and traces of this in the thumb indentation.

A small Medieval ceramic body sherd, dating to c. AD 1000-1100. The find is a sub-triangular shape, pale orange colour in the inside and a lighter shade of orange on the outer body. It has a coarse, gritty fabric with many tiny flint inclusions and a possible iron stain on the inner surface, plus a small void on the outer surface.
