Fragment of rim from a copper alloy vessel. This is probably a rim from a cauldron or similar vessel. The rim is pointed and has an external bead. The vessel wall is thinned from the rim.The interior surface appaers smoothed whilst the exterior is rough and un-polished. There is clear evidence of mending of this vessel in the form of two rivet holes (one whole, with partial rivet and one incomplete). Reduced dark grey fabric with frequent mica, occasional black grog tempering <2mm, infrequent lime stone inclusions. Grey core, buff exterior. Straight side walls, there is a lip below the rim which has an undulating outside edge and stabbed decoration on the top edge. The vessel would have had a sagging base. this type of vessel would have been made in the north Gloucestershire/Worcestershire area and dates to the 11th-12th century.

Rim of a medieval pottery jar. A sagging based cooking jar. Lorraine Mepham has identified this as 10th to 12th century in date and originating from Southern England, possibly Hampshire. The fabric has a slightly soapy texture and is coarsely tempered with abundant limestone and occasional flint and grog. A 13th-century coarseware pitcher broken into fifteen fragments, of which one is from the base, one is from the rim, three are from the handle and ten from the body. The leg is tri-lobate in section with a rounded, prominent ridge running up the centre of the front of the leg. The back of the leg is flat. A probably medieval lead mend for a pottery vessel. An irregularly shaped piece lead with one large plate and one smaller. The larger plate is sub-triangular with a smoothed surface and a slightly chamfered edge around it (5.55 mm thick). The smaller plate is much thinner (1.87 mm thick) and also roughly triangular. It has a more uneven surface. At one side the plates appear to be joined and there are also two thin bars of lead joining the together at another. The foot is also D shaped in section with five moulded 'toes' running down the front giving a scalloped lower edge and a flat back. The fabric is tempered with sand which is finely sorted, with only slight reduction to the core of the fabric. The rim has been compressed during the throwing process and has a low porosity which suggests a near vitrification point has been reached. Possibly from Verwood. Late 17th to mid 18th century.

A earthenware rim sherd of a probable platter of 17th to early 18th century date and possibly a Verwood piece. The Fabric is buff in colour and has been tempered with fine sand/quartz. The rim is sub triangular with the top angled outwards. The base has an offset foot ring of which there is a potter's finger impression. The olive green lead glaze has been enriched with iron and possibly manganese staining which has run towards the rim. This indicates a rim-to-rim stacking within the kiln. Dimensions are; Length 57.5 mm Height 34.1mm. Thickness 15.9 mm. Weight 30 grams.

A Earthenware rim sherd from a probable platter of the 17th-18th century. The sherd has a broad rim which has been rounded externally and ridged where it meets the wall which is gently angled inwards ( "plate like") The glaze is green with patches of orange. The fabric is grey with an orange exterior to the underside.

An abraded rim sherd of unglazed earthenware dish, probably dating from the Medieval period. The fabric has a pink exterior with a buff core, of which there appears to be no reduction. The surface is gritty in texture and the fabric has a sand/quartz temper with occasional grog additions (c 1.5 mm). The rim is flat and straight sided and follows the line of the vessel wall. Only a fragment of the base survives and this appears flat, with no foot detail. The height is 22.5 mm Width 34.5 mm. Thickness 11.1 mm. Weight 11 grams.
