A fragment of a medieval copper alloy vessel handle from a tripod cauldron. The handle is cylindrical with an angled break at the end which indicates that this is part of an angled lug from the top of a cauldron. At the opposite end is a fragment of the vessel rim and body. The rim is pointed with an internal bead and the internal surface is very smooth. The surface of the handle is rough and sooted. The breaks are worn. A lead pot mend. The object is in the form of a crude lead stud with a convex, wide haed in one side and a smaller, flatter disc on the other. Remains of the ceramic fabric are visible in the recess between the two ends, but it is not possible identify the pottery type or closely date it. Date: Medieval to Early Post Medieval - c. 1200 - 1600 The pot mend measures 34.69mm in length and is 14.75mm thick. It weighs 48.60 grams.

Two sherds of unglazed earthernware pottery. Both sherds are of a reduced grey coarsely tempered fabric. On sherd has oxidised orange margins. The abundant temper is a poorly sorted mix of flint grit, sand and ironstone pieces (up to 3 mm). Both are sherds from jar rims. One is a cupped rim with and internal lid-seat, the other is a flat-topped rim with a slight in turn. The pottery is handmade and heavily abraded. A Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy vessel foot, probably dating to c. AD 1200-1700. The foot is sub-trapezoidal in cross section, with the front, broad, face cast into three parallel longitudinal ribs and a central longitudinal ridge on the reverse. The underside is slightly concave and shows signs of sooting. Dimensions: length 43.0mm; width 52.3mm; thickness 15.3mm; weight 106.23g This is an example of Butler, Green and Payne's type A, which they suggest was in use throughout the medieval period and into the 17th century.

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot with a small remnant of the pot attached, dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The foot is triangular in cross-section, tapering downwards. The back is hollowed. Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used throughout the Medieval and Post-Medieval periods for serving and cooking (Butler et al 2009). A fragment of a Roman Samian ware vessel, probably a drinking cup, dating to the period c AD 43- 260 It appears to be a small part of the rim of a light vessel such as a drinking cup. The sherd is decorated with a radial line on the inside of the wall of the vessel, just below the outward curl of the rim. The height of the extant item is c 18.95mm and the length of the rim is c 22.22mm. The thickness of the fragment is c 3.90mm and it weighs 1.89g.
