Fragment of a copper alloy item, probably part of the side of a large cast vessel. The fragment is irregular in shape with very worn breaks on all sides. One face has a raised ridge, a casting seam running down it, the ridge has been fettled. In profile the piece is slightly concave so the edges at each end of the casting seam curve upwards and the centre curves downwards. Cracking on the back suggests some of this is due to damage but the way the piece thickens slightly towards these edges suggests some might be original curvature. Possibly a cast copper alloy fragment from a two-part handle from a drinking vessel (probably a tankard) of probable post medieval date (cAD1600 to 1800). The fragment consists only of the thumb rest. One end is a square based straight sided flat plate with two holes with the broken copper alloy rivets still in place. A Late Medieval to Post-Medieval copper alloy chafing dish handle, probably dating to c. AD 1400 - 1600. The handle is heart-shaped with truncated point, and a hexagonal cross section. The resulting top bar is slightly narrowed and recessed, and passes through the perforation of a sub-rectangular lug. The lug has one rounded and one flattened end, from the flattened end extends a circular protrusion for attachment to the vessel. A Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot with a small remnant of the pot attached, dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The foot is triangular in cross-section, tapering downwards. There are three longitudinal, convex raised ribs running down the front, the central rib protruding further than the others (thus forming the triangular cross-section), and extending further up as it joins the remnant of the pot body. The leg is broadly triangular in cross section, the inner surface being flat and the outer surface formed of five conjoined convex ribs. An incomplete copper-alloy zoomorphic spout of Medieval date, c. AD 1400 - 1500. The spout is from a copper alloy vessel, either a ewer or a laver. The spout is tubular with a zoomorphic head terminal in the form of a dogs head with gaping jaws that clasp a circular tube (7.3mm in diameter) that protrudes from its mouth by 3.19mm and is considerably worn by old breaks. The ribs are evenly spaced with one at each outer side. The rounded foot is separated from the leg by a prominent rounded transverse collar on the front. The ribs on the leg are less prominent. The foot is also D shaped in section with five moulded 'toes' running down the front giving a scalloped lower edge and a flat back. A leg from a cast copper alloy cooking vessel such as a cauldron or skillet, of medieval or post-medieval date. The leg measures 46.1mm by 22.1mm by 11.5mm and weighs 52g. The cross-section is D-shaped, with a flat undecorated back and a curving front. The D-shaped base is slightly rounded and at a near right-angle to the rest of the leg.
