An incomplete copper alloy vessel foot dating to the Roman period (AD 43-410). The object is pelta shaped in plan, D shape in section, with a crescent shaped outer edge with two semi-circular cut out sections (biconcave) that create projecting outer 'arms' on each side of the object and a middle projection. A rim sherd of a Roman Terra Sigillata or Samian fineware vessel dating c. AD 40-200. The sherd is triangular and worn and abraded with a beaded rim. There is a deep glossy red slip remaining on the internal surface and a small area on the external wall, but no other decoration. The fabric is pale orange red with abundant sorted white limestone inclusions and occasional red iron ore inclusions. Measurements: length14.63mm, width 18.34mm, thickness 5.20mm, weight 0.98 g. The inclusion suggest it may be Central Gaulish ware from Les Martres-de-Veyre.
