AD 1100-1500.  The fabric is a hard fired, rough and sandy with abundant translucent grey/white sandy quartz inclusions.  The outer surface is a buff colour and smooth with a row of vertical rouletted lines (and possibly a second row just visible).  The inner surface is a darker buff colour with some patches of darker grey and is rough and gritty.  The core is a darker unoxidised grey. A sherd of unglazed earthenware pottery. The redusce fabric is mid grey with an oxidise margin at the nner surface of the vessel. It is tempered with dense, poorly sorted material including rounded quartz sand and occasional haematite pieces up to 4mm. There are also some large voids. A base sherd from a handmade cooking jar. An incomplete copper alloy zoomorphic spout. The terminal only remains. It is in the form of an elabotaely moulded beast head. An animal with mouth open around a slightly projecting circular spout, showing two rows of rectangular teeth along either side. The lower jaw is narrow with a rounded end. A fragment of glass, part (about half) of the circular base of a vessel, probably a wine or brandy bottle, of Post Medieval date, perhaps c AD 1600 -1800. The glass was perhaps originally dark green or blue, now translucent, and all surfaces, including the broken edges are now coated with pearlescence. The outer surface, however is more cloudy. A group of seven Post Medieval Verwood ware sherds, dating to the period cAD 1600-1900. The group comprises two rim sherds, one handle sherd, one base sherd and three body sherds. Eleven sherds of Medieval unglazed earthernware vessels The ffiring varies from black and grey reduced through grey reduced cores with buff and orange margins to orange-buff oxidised throughout.
