A sherd of externally glazed earthernware pottery. The fabric is reduced pale grey at the core with orange-red oxidised margins. It is tempered with abundant fine sand and sparse grog. The sherd is quite abraded The sherd has an external cordon and flanking groove around the girth. There is an internal shoulder, probably a lid seat. The exterior is decorated with vertical bands of trailed off-white slip with traces of green glaze over. Probably a sherd from a jug.  Date: Late Medieval - c.1400 - 1500 Weight: 19 g

A small bodysherd of a Medieval vessel dating to c. AD 1100-1500.  The fabric is a hard fired, rough and sandy with abundant translucent grey/white sandy quartz inclusions.  The outer surface is a buff colour and smooth with a row of vertical rouletted lines (and possibly a second row just visible).  The inner surface is a darker buff colour with some patches of darker grey and is rough and gritty.  The core is a darker unoxidised grey. A base sherd from a Roman Oxfordshire red slipped ware vessel dating to the period c. AD 240 - 410. The sherd consists of part of a circular foot ring with edges terminating in old breaks. The fabric is orange in colour. It exhibits mica inclusions. The surfaces are coated in a smooth orange-red slip which has been heavily abraded. An incomplete cast copper-alloy leg from a cooking vessel,  The leg is broadly rectangular with a sub triangular-shaped cross section (flat at the rear). On the front, convex face of the flared foot are five narrow longitudinal ridges below a thick transverse collar. Above the collar the leg is narrowed and decorated with central longitudinal ridges. A cast copper alloy vessel fragment in two pieces. Part of a vessel wall and rim, probably from a large vessel such as a cauldron. The rim is plain and slightly everted with a low internal bead. The interior surface is worn and smooth. The exterior of the vessel is scored, probably as a result of the manufacturing process and also sooted. A fragment of a Roman ceramic vessel base, dating to c AD260 - 400. It is a hard grey fabric, without inclusions. There is evidence of a dark grey or brown wash. The base is circular, with a short pedestal which flares out to a short section of circular body before early damage caused the rest of the vessel to break away.
