An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval (1600-1700) strap fitting or dress hook, probably from a sword belt or baldrick. The tag would have had a separate back plate and looped attachment, both now missing. The hook is missing its tip. The plate is circular, domed with three longitudinal facets and hollow to the reverse. One end has a circular attachment-knop with central in situ iron rivet (2.8mm diameter) and smaller finial knop, extending from a transverse rib. From the opposite end extends a solid transverse ridge with a 4.1mm diameter copper alloy rivet head to the reverse, hol…

A small, corroded cast copper-alloy mount of post-medieval date (c. 17th century). The mount is in the form of a scallop-like shell. It is broadly flat with a moulded upper surface formed by diagonal ridges that radiate out from a narrowed point. Above the waisted point the mount is crescentic; the element below is trefoilate with a vestigial central fleur. On the lower surface are two lugs; one in the centre of the lower element, the other to one side on the edge of the crescent. The latter has been truncated, while the former has been bent down onto the lower surface. The artefa…

A small cast copper-alloy mount of post-medieval date. The mount is oval in form and convex with a central integral stud of square cross-section on the lower surface. The mount has a general variable mid-green patina over metal that appears to be red-brown in hue. The mount plausibly functioned as a strap-fitting.

A corroded and bent cast copper-alloy hooked mount of post-medieval date (c. 16th/17th century). The mount is sub-oval in plan with a rounded attachment knop. It tapers towards the forward-facing hook, broken at its tip. The hook is now slightly misaligned following an old strike to this end. The knop is perforated for a now missing rivet. There is a second rivet hole just above the hook within the field. This hole retains orange corrosion product from an iron rivet. The field is bordered by a raised line; the second rivet hole also has an annular border. Within the recessed field …
