Silver ring, possibly a finger ring. The band is wide, undecorated and has an inward facing D-shaped cross section. The fact that the ring has a convex internal surface suggests that it may not be a finger ring. Undiagnostic Description: silver band, probably a fitting, with undecorated surface. The interior of the fitting is convex, indicating that this is indeed a fitting rather than a finger-ring. Discussion: There are no diagnostic features to the fitting, therefore it is not possible to conclusively date the fitting.

A gilt-copper-alloy mount of uncertain date. The mount is of flat section and broadly pelta-shaped in plan, having a shallower indentation on one side than on the other. The central projection has a squared-off end. Perimeter grooves exist on both sides of the piece; however, these grooves only extend along two of the three edges. There is an in situ copper-alloy rivet with domed head, located at the centre of the piece. The curvature of the mount suggests it once fitted to a rounded object, such as a helmet. The side with the deeper curvature has a transverse crack.

A broken and distorted fragment of probable mount or fitting. It is most likely of modern date. A band formed of four parallel strands of twisted gold wire soldered together. A copper alloy mount in the form of the bust of a man. The detail and pose are quite naturalistic and well executed. The hair is short cropped and swept forward into a short fringe. The ears are large and project outside the hair. The eyes are oval with clearly delineated lower lids and brow line. The nose is triangular and is slightly squashed (this is probably the result of damage to the mould the object was cast in). The mouth is narrow, but both lips are visible. The chin projects slightly and is rounded. The head is slightly turned to the right. At the base of the neck is a small…

A cast copper alloy lion mount of probable Roman date. The oval mount measures 26.7mm by 19.3mm by 6.7mm and weighs 8.46g. It has a wide nose, protruding cheeks and upper lip and around the edge of the front of the mount there are hints of a curly mane. The back is concave. According to Sally Worrell the mount is larger and more elaborate than most lion-headed casket mounts, but there are a series of other mounts and appliques, particul…

Cast copper alloy pelta-shaped mount with looped terminal with integral pointed lug that is 4 mm long at the back of the terminal. The mount is in the form of an expanded crescent or collar with moulded borders and radiating oblique lines that run between the borders. Between these transverse ridges there are trapezoidal cells that would originally have held enamel. Inside this crescent is a pelta-shaped section that still retains some of its red enamel inlay and arcs into a point that almost touches the terminal, creating two areas of crescentic openwork.
