Above the doorway are two transverse lines across with central section with a central turret above, which may be broken at the top. Lead cap or container. A cylindrical cap, closed at one and and squashed out of shape. At the open end is a girth line below the rim. There are two small circular holes along this line, probably for attachment. There object is decorated with two moulded cross designs. Although similar to powder caps, this is larger and lacks the attachment loops. The small attachment holes suggest this was attached as an end-cap, possibly to a wooden staff or similar. Date: Post-medieval - 16th to 18th century Dimensions: 25.76 mm x 30.36 mm x 25.76 mm Weight: 52.72 g

A domed disc of cast lead. The convex front is decorated with a cast relief design of a double stranded quatrefoil with a small circular boss in each foil and at the centre. There is diagonal line infill between the foils. There are two slight sprues from casting on the edge of the disc. The back of the disc is flat and has an imprint of the material it was cast in in the form of a series of parallel grooves. The function of this object is uncertain, but it may be a form of decorative mount. The decoration is similar to that seen on late medieval and post medieval objects such as pilgr…
