A fabricator made on a curved, thick, secondary flake of patchy dark grey and beige flint with a mottled white and mid-gloss patina. It is elongate in shape and plano-convex to trapezoidal in cross-section. The sides are covered in steep, abrupt retouch. Both ends are worked and abraded to smooth the flake scar ridges. At the proximal end is a remnant of the striking platform and bulb of percussion and there are indistinct waves on the ventral face. The top of the dorsal face retains an area abraded nodule cortex at the distal end and a area of older, white-patinated fractured surface…

A flint fabricator. Bifacially flaked and elongate in shape with an oval section. The object tapers from a rounded end to a smaller more pointed end. The larger end retains cortex, this also covers around one third of one face. The flaking is covering, scaled and low angle. The flint is opaque, light beige with a low-gloss patina, now covered in a layer of off-white chalky re-cortification. Dr Kevin Leahy states 'fabricators are difficult to date and a wide range must be suggested.' Date: Early Mesolthic to late Bronze Age 10000 BC to 800 BC. Dimensions: 99.2mm x 11.31mm x 19.2mm. …

A large fabricator or axehead roughout. It is elongate in shape with a rounded distal end and rectilinear proximal end. The cross section is plano convex. The flint is covered in a thin, smooth layer of off-white cortification. Patches of thick nodular cortex remain along the right side and distal end of the dorsal face with a thinner orangey sub-layer of cortification in between patches and covering the whole of the ventral face. Low angle flaking to the upper face is crude with many scars terminating in hinge fractures. The ventral face is flat. Date: Late Neolithic to early Bronz…

The flint is opaque mottled dark to light grey with a mid-gloss patina. Areas of reddish brown ferrous staining are visible. Both faces show covering scaled, low-angle retouch struck from each edge creating a keeled edge and central ridge. One end has been flaked into a thinned neck. Date: Neolithic to late Bronze Age 4000 BC to 800 BC. Dimensions: 102.6 mm x 36.5 mm x 15.5 mm Weight: 64.9 g Dr Kevin Leahy states 'fabricators a…

A fabricator made on a thick, tertiary flake of flint. Elongate in shape with a trapezoidal cross-section. The flint is opaque, mid to light grey with a low-gloss patina, areas of reddish brown ferrous stains are visible, mainly to flake scar ridges. The side faces show covering, scaled, semi-abrupt retouch, the upper face is flat and smooth with one end showing removal of large flakes to create a tapering point, the other end shows removal of one broad flake. The lower face shows scaled flaking along margins. Date: Neolithic - 4000 BC - 2351 BC. Dimensions: 95.5mm x 21mm 15.5mm…

The flint is semi-opaque and mid grey with a mid gloss patina. The retouch to the dorsal face is covering and scaled and semi-abrupt creating a central ridge, all margins show finer flaking and areas of neat parallel retouch. The ventral face shows ripples and flaking scars emanating from one side. Date: Neolithic 4000 BC to 2350 BC. Dimensions: 65mm x 21.3mm x 13.1mm. Weight: 18g.

A rectangular flint fabricator. Made on a thick, curved flake of mid-grey flint. There is an area of nodule cortex on the dorsal face. The surface has a mottled blue-white semi-gloss patina. Part of the striking point and bulb of percussion of the flake are retained at the proximal end. The margins have been retouched by steep, irregular percussion flaking and appear deliberately blunted. Both the distal and the proximal ends are heavily worn and smoothed. The fabricator has a plano-convex cross section. Date: Neolithic - c. 4000 to 2350 BC Dimensions: 59.83 mm x 18.34 mm x 14.6…

A complete flint fabricator. Made using a thick primary flake very dark grey to black highly siliceous flint which retains an area of nodule cortex on the dorsal face. The striking platform and bulb of percussion have been partially ground out and there are areas of polish and grinding on all surfaces, often removing the flake scar ridges. The finger-shaped fabricator has a profile which is triangular at the distal end and changes to D-shaped at the proximal end. There a remnants of large scale abrupt retouch along the long edges, worked from the ventral face. Date: Neolithic to Earl…

It is triangular in section with a central ridge on the dorsal face becoming thicker at the proximal end. There is retouch all around the edge: abrupt, scalar, short to long retouch down the sides and long, parallel, abrupt retouch around both ends. The right side (seen from the dorsal face) is straight while the left has a series of shallow notches. The flint is mid grey with paler mottling. It is 63.2mm long, 21.5mm wid…
