A Roman copper alloy nummus of the House of Constantine, dating to AD 330-335 (Reece period 17). VRBS ROMA type, depciting a wolf and twins with two stars above. Mint of Trier. LRBC I, no. 65. The coin is struck on a notably eliptical flan, with the remains of a white metal coating only visible on the obverse and peirced at 3 o'clock. Such reuse could be either Roman or Early Medieval in date, in the absence of any finds from the latter period the former is suggested.

A, probably plated, contemporary copy of a silver siliqua of Valens (AD 364 - 378) dating to c. AD 364-78 (Reece Period 19). VOT X MVLT XX in a wreath on the reverse. Prototype Mint of Trier, -//TR. This is an interesting piece because VOT X MVLT XX does not appear on siliquae of Valens at Trier, although it was used elsewhere (eg. Lyons, RIC 19, and Antioch, RIC 34b). The obverse legend D N VALEN - S P P F AVG immediately confirms it is a contemporary copy; P P might suggest that the forger had copied this title from coins of Julian, struck AD 360-3.
