Silver long cross penny of Edward I (1272-1307), Class 4a (1282-1283), London mint. The crown is trifoliate, which places it in Classes 1-9. The obverse inscription is +EDW R'ANGL'DNS hYB, which eliminates Class 1a-c, as the contracted form EDW R began with Class 1d. The face is wide with long hair and the drapery at the neck is composed of two shallow wedges. The ornaments between the fleurs are spearheads, and there is a short beaded line above the forehead below the band of the crown.
