Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Flint leaf-shaped arrowhead of Late Neolithic date. Light grey-brown flint patinated to almost completely white with small patches of iron staining and a mid gloss surface. The arrowhead is roughly lozenge-shaped and is pressure flaked around the edges on both faces. The dorsal face retains traces of larger flaking scars and waves of percussion can be seen ventrally. The proximal point is slightly thickened over where the bulb of percussion would be. There is a small amount of recent damage along the edges. This is a fairly coarsely made example of such arrowheads. Date: Late Neolithi…

There is a small striking platform at the proximal end and a small bulb of percussion with a bulbar scar on the ventral face. The dorsal face is heavily worked with numerous small, elongate flaking scars from the production of bladelets. the scars have marked waves of percussion. Two tertiary flint flakes. The flint is dark grey and thickly patinated to white with a slight gloss.  Both have a broad striking platform at the proximal end and a bulb of percussion ventrally. There are several irregular flaking scars on the dorsal surfaces. The well defined striking points on the bulbs of percussion indicates the use of a hard hammer. There is recent edge damage to flake A. Worked flint side scraper, made from a secondary flake. The dorsal face has a central ridge running its length. To the right of this, the majority of the dorsal face is corticated. To the left is a long flaking scar, with two smaller ones at the promimal end. The left edge of the dorsal face has short semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral face is slightly convex. The flint is dark brown-grey with a light-grey patch on the ventral face at the bulb of purcussion. The object is probably of Neolithic to Bronze Age date. A flaked flint rough-out for an axe or adze. Pale grey flint with a heavy off-white patina and iron staining. This has been made on a large flake, the striking platform of which is still evident at the proximal end. The rough-out is asymmetrical and trapezoidal in outline, flaring towards the distal end. It also thickens distally. On the ventral face the cutting edge is quite steep, but the dorsal face is flatter resulting in a shallower drop to the cutting edge. The faces and edges of the rough-out are extensively flaked. There is some recent edge damage along the cutting edge. The s…
