A late early-medieval or early medieval (1000-1200) copper-alloy strap fitting from harness / bridle fitting, perhaps from a cheekpiece. It consists of a trapezoidal/ square loop at one end with a parallel-sided integral plate extending from the shortest edge. The loop is decorated on three outside edges with transverse (and sometimes diagonal) grooves. These edges all slope inwards and have a height of max.5.2mm. A complete harness hook. The hook comprises a shield shaped plate with a transverse collar and an integral curving hook. The upper part of the object is a shield-shaped plate decorated on both faces with an heraldic white enamelled beast with a long tail, possibly a leopard, lying left. There are tiny traces of gilding in the surrounding field. At the pointed end of the shield is an integral sub square collar, also with traces of gilding. From beneath this extends an integral, D-sectioned vertical hook, with a long hooked end. Date: Medieval - 13th to 14th century Dimensions: 70.78 mm

A near complete Late Early-Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) to Medieval cast copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating to AD 1000-1100, of Williams Class A, Type 19. The item is chipped at one bottom corner but otherwise the design is clear. The mount is sub-rectangular plan. It is moulded and convex at the front and slightly concave at the rear. At the head is the remnant of the folded tabs to house the axis bar for a missing hinged pin.There are traces of iron corrosion, probably from the axis bar. A fragment of a gilded, copper alloy plate brooch of the centre boss type. Over half of the plate and all of the glass boss are missing. The plate was oval in shape with a raised rim around an oval recess to house the missing glass boss. The part of the plate framing the recess is decorated with two concentric grooves with a ridge between them and at the edge.
