A French copper alloy jetton dating from the early fifteenth century. As Salisbury Museum Medieval Catalogue Part 3, no. 64 (2001, p. 227). The jetton has been pierced from the reverse, 5mm from the edge.

Copper alloy jetton of the Duchy of Guelders. Obverse shows a lion rampant on a shield. The Lion has the two forked tail of Limburg - Guelders. The reverse shows a long, double strand, arctuate cross flueretty with a nail punch at the centre and single-tailed lions in the angles. Some damage to the edges. Issued under Mathilde de Guelder c. 1371 - 1379.

The reverse shows a triple strand cross fleuretty. Late Medieval - c. 1415 - 1499 Diameter - 21.9 mm Weight - 1.65 g Similar to Mitchener, Jetons, Medalets & Tokens, the Medieval Period & Nuremberg B A Seaby Ltd London [pages: 227 & 231 ref: 687a & 709] but the are no annulets above the shield as seen on the former.

A French 'Christus Dominus Laudetus' issue jetton minted between 1497-1521, during the reign of Louis XII or early in the reign of Francis I. A small oval fragment is missing from the centre of the object. Most of these late jettons were struck at Tournai, France. As Mitchiner's no. 768, but with the 'E' missing on the end of DOMIN and two mullets as well as two lis, instead of four lis, in the angles of the cross pattee on the reverse.
