Flint bladelet core. Dark brownish grey mottled flint with a pale grey, mid gloss patina. Gravel flint. One face retains a patch of weathered cortex and also shows evidence of earlier breakage in the form of a patch of off-white patination. The core has been worked from two sides, having numerous elongate, blade-like scars on both. Plausibly Mesolithic.

A possible tranchet axe. A small, irregularly flaked flint axe with an apparent failed tranchet sharpening at the cutting edge. Pale grey mottled flint, sometimes very coarse, with heavy off white-grey patina. Very sparse red-brown ferrous staining in places. Both long edges are extensively flaked on one edge and more irregularly flaked on the other, creating an irregular cross section. Both edges are straight but irregular, and there is an irregularly sub-rounded butt. At the opposite end, there is a large, deep flake removal at one edge, but the flake di…

A flint core. A single platform bladelet core of irregular shape, but tending towards conical. Made from a piece of dark grey pebble flint with a glossy, mottled blue-white patina. There is some abraded iron-stained cortex remaining. The rest of the "conical" surface is covered in multiple converging bladelet removal scars. The flakes have been removed from a single platform. The edges of the core show signs of deliberate platform edge abrasion. Date: Mesolithic- Neolithic - c. 10000 - 2350 BC Dimensions: 24.91 mm x 32.38 mm x 28.43 mm Weight: 27.98 g

An axehead made on a partially naturally fractured flake of mid grey secondary flint. A crude tranchet style axehead. The surface has patinated to a very pale grey with areas of iron staining and a mid gloss. It has been crudely and steeply flaked to produce a tapering shape. The wider end has been modified with a single tranchet flake to form a crude cutting edge. There is some thin, abraded cortex on one face of the implement. The lateral margins have been pecked and abraded to blunt the edges of the piece. Date: Probably Mesolithic - c. 8300 to 3500 BC Dimensions: 94 mm x 42 mm

A piece of flint debitage of Mesolithic date (c. 10,000 - 4000 BC) in the form of a bladelet. The blade is struck off a tertiary flake and retains none of its original cortex. The dorsal surface exhibits three negative flake scars from previous blade removal, which give the bladelet a triangular cross section. The ventral surface exhibits a very low bulb of percussion and faint conchoidal ripple marks. There is no evidence of retouch. The bladelet has been recorticated due to long term burial in a chalk environment, and is white-grey in colour. The piece of debitage measures 37.…
