A incomplete perforated stone object or mace of probable Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age date, circa 8300BC- 2100BC. The remaining piece is truncated-sub-oval in plan, with a flat upper surface and near vertical sides. The break has occurred at the point of a central hourglass-shaped vertical perforation. The item has probably been made from a natural cobble.

A pyramid-shaped single platform core dating from the late Mesolithic period (6,000 BC) to early Neolithic period (3000 BC). There are approximately nine flake removals. A small area of cortex remains at the distal end. The core colour is banded from dark brown to a milky white with a silky smooth patina. The flint has a major flaw to one side which has probably rendered the core unsuitable for further flake removal. Dimensions are; Length 46.86 mm. Width 39.02 mm. Weight 52 grams. FLO comment: Date: Possibly late Mesolithic to probably early Neolithic - c 6000 - 3000 BC

An incomplete flint axehead of Mesolithic date., The butt appears to have been broken off in antiquity. The tip and one edge appear to have suffered recent damage, the opposite edge has numerous small flaking scars which appear to be retouching. There is evidence of several transverse flakes being removed from one edge and these are highlighted with iron staining to the ridges of each one. It is roughly oval in cross section with one face having a slight central ridge. It is patinated to a semi matt pale grey colour to one face the other face is dark brown with less siliceous patches.…
