An incomplete bent copper alloy strip bow brooch of Late Iron Age to Roman date (c. AD 25 - 75). The pin and one of the wings is missing. The brooch has been bent, its maximum length is 28.95mm in length, 12.6mm wide, and weighs 2.26 grams. The head is divided into two rolled wings divided by a central pin slot. The wings are rolled forwards to accomodate the missing axis bar. The bow tapers along its length to the foot and is decorated with a single central vertical groove running along its length. An Iron Age silver Cranborne Chase stater dating to c 58 BC-AD 43. The stater is of the Durotriges. The obverse depicts part of a wreath, a cloak and crescents. The reverse depicts a disjoined horse facing left with a rectangular head, body of crescents, four vertical legs (the legs and tail and pellet below are missing owing to the coin being struck off centre). An Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy bead, probably dating to c. 800 BC - AD 100. The bead is circular in plan and biconical in cross section, with a circumferential ridge emphasised by slight incised lines. The bead has a large, central, circular perforation 6.2mm in diameter. Dimensions: diameter 15.1mm; thickness 7.3mm weight 5.14g. cf. BH-431B44 and SUR-14AA83, amongst others for similar examples on this database. A larger example, but of similar form, was excavated at Camerton and dated to c. 50 BC - AD 50 (Jackson 1990: 48 & plt. 14).

An incomplete Roman copper alloy strip bow brooch, a British variant of an Aucissa brooch, dating to c. AD 20 - 70. The surviving fragment comprises of the upper bow and damaged head, the rest of the brooch being lost to old breaks. The head of the brooch is rolled back to hold an iron axis bar, partially surviving in situ and with a rectangualr slot cut to accommodate a hinged pin. An incomplete cast copper alloy Iron Age brooch of La Tene I type dating to 4th - 3rd c BC. It is missing some of the pin but is otherwise complete. The head, which is a a simple cylindrical piece at right angles to the bow has six coils wrapped around it. On one side, two coils are extensions of the bow and thus hold the bow to the head. An Iron Age silver quarter stater of the Durotriges dating to c 50 BC - AD 43. The type is known as Duro Boat Dots. The obverse depicts 'Three men in a boat' design with what appers to be the hull of a boat with oars along the side and above three 'figures' or 'sails' and a pellet rosette to the left of the hull. The reverse depicts zigzag thunderbolts and a line of pellets across field, Y-shape and uncertain objects to each side. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman strip bow brooch dating to the period AD 25 - 75. The pin and catchplate are missing and the brooch is bent. The brooch is in a single piece of copper alloy which has been split and rolled over at the top to create the tube for the suspension pin (which is missing). On each of the wings, there are four lines, two on the outer edge and two beside the split.
