A copper alloy miniature spear head, probably dating to the Iron Age to early Roman period. It is broadly leaf shaped with a long pointed tip, it continues to the stem which has an oval sectioned socket which appears hollow (although partially filled with soil). Date: Dimensions:57.4mm x 9.90mm x 2.11mm Weight: 3.93g. There are database records for similar objects, including LIN-B052A0 where Adam Daubney notes that: Miniature spears are difficult to date although they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.

An incomplete copper-alloy one-piece brooch of 'Nauheim derivative' La Tene III type of the Late Iron Age or Early Roman period (c. AD 10-c. AD 100). Some of the spring, the pin and catch-plate are missing. The brooch has a head with an internal chord. It has an incomplete bilateral four-coil spring which extended to form the pin, now missing. The upper part of the bow is triangular in plan, C shape in section, and tapers to the point where the catchplate would flare out but this is entirely missing except for a small flat section. An incomplete cosmetic mortar. An end-looped type with a knobbed terminal. The loop is incomplete. The elliptical bow is wider at the looped end, tapering and curving up to the pointed knop at the terminal. It is hollowed on the upper face and angled at the lower giving it a pointed-vacked C-shaped cross section. There is slightly diagonal groove and ridge decoration on both sides at the looped end, running from the lower to upper faces. Incomplete Langton Down strip brooch dating from the early Roman period, made of a strip of thin copper alloy sheet metal, folded into a tube at the top to hold the pin mechanism. Only one of the wings and the bow of the brooch survive with a tapering body with three broad parallel longitudinal grooves down the front face. The foot, catchplate, pin, spring mechanism and one of the wings are all missing. The brooch appears to have been coated in a black substance, perhaps burnt organic material having been part of a cremation burial, which has since rubbed off on the upstanding surface…
