A folded fragment of gold strip or ribbon, dating to the Bronze Age c. 2350-800 BC. The ribbon is rectangular in plan and made from a beaten sheet of gold. It has been folded or bent out of shape in several locations. One surface of the ribbon is decorated with thirteen regular, longitudinal, incised grooves, creating ridges. The exterior longitudinal edges are slightly thicker than the internal ridges, creating a border to the band. Both terminals appear to have been cut leaving a straight edge. The longitudinal edges have likely been smoothed, as they are rounder when compared w…

A fragment of gold strip or bar with a flared terminal. The strip has been coiled with the terminal on the inside. The strip is rectangular in cross section. At one end is a flared, flat-ended, terminal (approximately 4.5 mm thick) which is oval in cross section. At the other the strip has a deliberate angled cut. The strip is flattened from the terminal and expands in width to the cut end. The sides have been raised to create low flanges. This is slightly more prominent along the edges of one face (the outer face of the coil) than the other. The strip is 1.4 mm thick at the ridge…

A gold working hoard dating to the Early Bronze Age consisting of a flat axe, gold bar ingot fragment and 8 pieces of scrap gold. These are discussed below.
1) An incomplete cast copper alloy flat axe or chisel of Early Bronze Age date (c. 2000 - 1700 BC). The axe probably best fits within the Migdale metalworking tradition
The object is sub-trapezoidal in plan expanding from one broken terminal, marked by an irregular transverse break, down most of its length before narrowing again at an incomplete crescent blade edge. This blade is missing a chip at one of its wings, giving it a di…

Description: The object appears to be made from a bar that was deliberately split and then hammered into flattened strands. The object is U-shaped in plan and comprises three integral sections. One consisting of extending arms, a rod shaped mid piece, and a warped flattened section.
The bar has a rectangular cross section that is 4.3mm long, 4.0mm wide and 3.1mm thick. From one end of this bar the bar splits into four separate strands that each takes up half of two sides of the bar. Each strand narrows from this triangular profile to become flat being c. 3.6mm wide and c.1mm t…

TREASURE CASE 2018 T373. Description: An incomplete strip of decorated gold, of probable Bronze Age dating (c. 2150 BC to c. 1150 BC). The strip is an oval/ellipse shaped band that tapers towards the possible terminals. The terminals have a corrugated appearance consisting of three or four peaks and troughs, each created length-ways for approximately one quarter of the object's length. The central section of the band is undecorated but, like the rest of the object, displays a number of scuffs and striations to both surfaces. There is evidence of a fold at either end of the corrugat…

Description: A rolled fragment from a gold bracelet dating to the Middle Bronze Age c.1400-1100 cal BC.
The bracelet is made from a single rectangular gold sheet whose section is possibly slightly crescent shaped with a convex outer surface and concave inner surface. The long outer edges of the sheet are also slightly expanded. This has been tightly rolled down its length over 450 degrees. One terminal is at the centre of the spiral so that it is not possible to determine if it was broken or represents the original end however it clearly ends with a clean transverse edge. The opposite…

The object is made of a gold rod that has been bent into an oval shaped hoop whose two terminals overlap one another. The rod is rectangular in section (c.3.6mm wide and c.3.1mm thick) with slightly accentuated corners created by slightly concave edges. This rod has been twisted moderately (having 5 twists) across its length. Both terminals end in transverse breaks.

Report to H. M. Coroner on find of potential Treasure:
Middle Bronze Age torc fragment (2003 T19)
Fragment of one end of a four-flange twisted torc consisting of part of the body and plain terminal; the greater part of the terminal is missing. The break at the terminal end is rough; at the body end the piece appears to have been cut by blow(s) from something like a chisel. It is likely to have been broken, and probably folded, in antiquity.
Maximum length (as folded) 24mm; maximum thickness (flange to flange) 8mm; thickness at terminal 5mm, weight 12.95 grams.

The find consists of two fragments of gold ‘bracelet’-length piece of gold with rectangular cross-section. The bar has been twisted and probably represents twisted decoration but the twist is not regular and we cannot be entirely certain whether this was the case when worn or whether it is a later distortion prior to deposition. It seems more likely, on the balance of probability and comparison, that it was indeed twisted and later distortion has taken place. One terminal is more clearly finished and has a circular cross-section, the other term is more make-shift and probably does…

Potential Treasure of possible Bronze Age pendant from Charminster, Dorset
Treasure case: 2006 T380
Circumstances of discovery
Found in September 2004 while using a metal detector; it was 'a few inches deep' in a field of stubble.
Description
A cigar-shaped strip of gold with sub-square terminals. The two long sides are asymmetric, one being more bowed than the other, but this may be due to a stronger buckle affecting the latter. The strip thins to either terminal, but the long edges have marginal lipping from edge finishing. The perforation is…
