A curvilinear copper-alloy coat hook or other furniture fitting, with a heron-like bird's head terminal. The attachment end is flared and rectangular with the remnants of an iron spike.Modern, 18th to 19th century. Fragments of such finds have in the past proved hard to identify, and so this example has been included on the database for illustrative purposes. A modern copper-alloy gilded livery button, dating to c.1876 - 1893. The button is circular with a domed front a hollowed back. The front of the button is decorated with a demi lion rampant facing left and holding a dagger. This crest is associated with the Farquharson family of Aberdeen and Invercauld. On the rear of the button is the manufacturer's mark : FIRMIN & SONS 153 STRAND LONDON which gives it the date range above. At the centre is a separately attached oval suspension loop.
