A damaged but complete hook-piece from a copper-alloy post-medieval book-clasp. The artefact is now corroded and bent upwards at the attachment end, having received strikes in the past. It is sub-rectangular in shape, with a flared attachment end. At the opposite end is a curved hook (up to 7.5mm wide). The artefact has been cut from a flat sheet. There is a single central rivet hole at the attachment end which contains the corroded remains of an iron rivet. A cast copper alloy handle lug probably from a chafing dish handle. The lug is thick and oval in shape with a collar at one end. Projecting from this end is stub of a circular rivet which would have attached the lug to the vessel wall. The lug has a large, slightly off-centre and sub-circular hole through which the handle would have attached. The hole shows signs of wear. A plate from a two piece strap end. This is probably the back plate of a two-piece strap end as it does not have an aperture at the attachment end.
