A complete copper alloy cast palstave with side loop  and lozenge-shaped flanges. The object has a flared blade with a sub- triangular-shaped depression (on front and back) and a worn central mid-rib below the stop-ridge.   The cutting edge is crescentic and relatively unworn; the blade bevels are well formed and the tips of the blade show little sign of wear or resharpening. A post-medieval (1600-1800) copper alloy furniture mount in the form of a stag's head with moulded eyes, snout and ears, and antlers projecting from the top of the head. The reverse is concave except behind the lower snout, which is solid. Here is the remains of a circular-sectioned integral shank, 4.5mm in diameter (surviving to a length of c.2mm). The metal has lost its original patina and is now a purplish-brown in colour. The object measures 43.4mm in length, 35.8mm in max.width, 9.3mm in depth and weighs 11.86g.
