A rare, copper-alloy dupondius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235), minted in Rome, AD 229. RESTITVTOR MON reverse type depicting the emperor standing left with spear. Ref. RIC, Vol. IV, Part II, p.118, no. 601. Severus Alexander apparently struck this coinage in connection with an 'enigmatic ... '"reform" in c. 229 celebrated with dupondii inscribed Restitvtor Mon (Alexander standing) and Mon Restitvta (Moneta standing).
