A Roman copper alloy contemporary copy of an As of Claudius, dating to AD 41-50 (Reece Period 2). Reverse type depicts Minerva advancing right, holding spear and shield, S C in field. Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. This example is a native copy.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman equal ended plate brooch dating to AD 100-200. One lug and the pin are missing, the brooch is slightly damaged. The brooch is broadly rectangular in plan. The front face is decorated with two vertical grooves flanking a central raised rectangle which is surrounded by a fine pellet border. The centre of the rectangular is recessed, no evidence of inlay survives. Two further projections are located at the top and bottom of the main body of the artefact, on the reverse of these projections are the lugs and the now missing catch plate respectively.…

The head of the brooch is comprised of rectangular wings, which form the lower portion of the lug. A medieval cast copper alloy pedestal type seal matrix with a circular face. The matrix has been heavily worn and abraded but shows no signs of an inner circle or inscription. The central pedestal type handle appears to be faceted, although most have been worn away. The handle narrows as it rises to a waist where there appears to have been a double ridged collar from which it expands out slightly before ending in a flat, transverse, sub-circular loop at the top. The seal matrix is 20.46mm in maximum diameter at the face and stands 26.11mm tall; it weighs 9.99 grams.

Medieval copper alloy pedestal type seal matrix with a circular face. The matrix has a central design of an arched pelican piercing her own chest to feed her young who sit in a nest below. There are two symettrical branches either side of the nest that frame part of the inscription and form the outline of a circle with the arched back of the pelican. A copper alloy early medieval harness mount probably dating to AD 500-600. The mount is roughly rectangular in shape narrowing to the perforated end which is probably the tip and can be seen to have three distinct sections. An incomplete bent copper alloy strip bow brooch of Late Iron Age to Roman date (c. AD 25 - 75). The pin and one of the wings is missing. The brooch has been bent, its maximum length is 28.95mm in length, 12.6mm wide, and weighs 2.26 grams. The head is divided into two rolled wings divided by a central pin slot. A fragment of a Middle Bronze Age copper-alloy palstave (c 1600 BC - c 1001 BC). This blade fragment is rectangular in cross section with convex sides. From the old transverse break at the top, the sides flare evenly to the cutting edge which is evenly curved in plan. No casting seams or decoration are present. This palstave has a green patina.. Length of remains of blade: 43.68mm; width at widest point near cutting edge 26.58: width at broken end 18.90mm; thickness at broken end 8.75mm narrowing to thickness at cutting edge of 2.65mm. Weight: 37.31g.

A Bronze Age chisel fragment measuring 33.35mm in length and 45.6mm wide. The chisel is incomplete only the blade survives. The blade thins from 4.9mm thick to 1.5mm thick at the cutting edge, the break at the top of the blade is broadly oval in cross section. The blade expands from the break towards the cutting edge. The chisel weighs 26.15 grams.

A copper-alloy enamelled Roman umbonate brooch with sprung pin. The brooch is incomplete although the pin has become detached and the lug appears to be a riveted replacement. The brooch is domed to the front circled by a wide, deep channel. At the centre is a drilled circular recess. From this recess radiate two circular bands of triangular recesses, the majority are filled with red enamel.
