An incomplete cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable later Medieval or Post Medieval date (1350 - 1700). The weight is circular with one edge missing possibly cut. A sub-rectangular hole has been cut / or more likely cast through the centre. This hole has been filled with a fragment of clear glass. The weight is a mid grey colour with a relatively even and corroded patina that covers all surfaces. A light active powdery corrosion product is present on all surfaces. An incomplete cast lead alloy weight dating to the modern period, c. AD 1800-1900. The object is formed in the shape of a fish, a pointed oval form with a waisted tail which is more rectilinear in shape. The fish's fins do appear to have been attached or at least hinted at, but are now missing. It is D-shaped in cross section, with a flat and undecorated lower surface. Probably a Medieval or post medieval cast lead alloy cup weight from a set of nested weights, dating to c. AD 1300-1600. The weight was originally open in profile, having a circular base with the sides flaring up to a wider rim. It has been compressed and one side is now folded inwards, although the original base area remains relatively unaffected. A late post-medieval/ modern circular lead weight measuring 16.7mm in diameter, 8.4mm in thickness and weighing 16.28g. It has damage in several places to the high sides, which in turn has caused damage to both faces. One face reads RIPPINGIL[...] around the top, the lettering around the bottom is lost due to wear. The other face reads [RI]PPINGILL[E]'S around the top and PA[...]T. around the bottom. On the domed top of the weight there are four punched sub-circular indentations which are roughly in line and may have been significant to the owner. The underside is roughly finished with indentations and a possible mark. The object has a dull grey patina. It has a diameter of 46.02 mm, is 17.29 mm thick and weighs 212 grams.
