A corroded iron wedge of uncertain date. The wedge is sub-rectangular in plan, tapering in width, towards the bottom end. The top is angled outwards and shows burring from repeated hammering. Wedges of this type and size have many uses, such as securing the drop side of a cart or agricultural implement. Length 92.68 mm. Width at top 22.60 mm. Width at bottom 13.89 mm. Thickness 4.91 mm. Weight 50 grams.
