Earthen ware pottery fragment length 86mm, width 96mm, thickness 15mm, weight 117.8g. Reduced dark grey fabric with frequent mica, occasional black grog tempering <2mm, infrequent lime stone inclusions. Grey core, buff exterior. Straight side walls, there is a lip below the rim which has an undulating outside edge and stabbed decoration on the top edge. The vessel would have had a sagging base. this type of vessel would have been made in the north Gloucestershire/Worcestershire area and dates to the 11th-12th century.

The internal surface is covered in a pale green glaze which also overlaps the rim. A rim sherd from a jar. The rim is wide and slightly everted with an internal lid seat at its base. On the exterior of the rim at the vessel shoulder is an applied strip with thumb decoration. Wheelmade. Some abrasion. Date: Early post-medieval - late 16th to 17th century

The sherd is probably a fragment of spout from a cistern or other spouted vessel. A fragment of outer edge remains. On the exterior the sherd expands into a slight projection with a slashed groove in it - this is probably the attachment point of the spout to the vessel wall. Some abrasion. 6 sherds of Samian ware (Terra Sigillata). 2 sherds have an oxidised orange fabric with conchoidal fracturing. The red slip coating is orangey red and glossy. The remaining four sherds are pinkish red with frequent white inclusions and the slip is thinner with a matt finish. 1 sherd from a footring and 5 undiagnostic body sherds. Probably from the central Gaulish manufacturing sites of Lezoux and Les Martres-de-Veyre. All the sherds are abraded and small. Date: Roman - 1st to late 2nd century Weight: 18 g
