A fragment of cast copper alloy jug handle. A curvilinear/leaf-shaped lower terminal escutcheon with relief decoration of two human feet. There are traces of solder at the back where the escutcheon would have attached to the body of the jug and the surface is keyed by diagonal scoring to improve adherance. A possible vessel foot. Cast copper alloy. The object has an oval cross section, is waisted and has a rounded bi-lobed terminal. In overall shape it is reminiscent of a bone from mammal phalanges (finger or toe bone). The surface of the other terminal is irregular and rough suggesting this was attached to another object, possibly as a foot for a vessel or other object. The broken terminal end of a Roman copper alloy patera (skillet) handle. The sides of the handle taper towards the break with a double grooved linear border on either side. The terminal of the handle is circular with a beaded border running around its circumference, the centre is pierced for suspension and also has a beaded rim around its edge. A copper alloy jug, with one handle. One of three containers for the Dorchester hoard found in 1936 (IARCH-5E5FEF). It was recorded as having a height of 1 foot 3/4 inches and a diameter at the top of 4 3/4 in. and at the base 4 in. Its maximum diameter was 7 inches. The handle was decorated with a vine branch and attached to the rim by two duck's beaks and to the body by a Silenus mask. Elements of the decoration were picked out in silver inlay. The lower portion of a leg from a cast copper-alloy cooking vessel. The leg base is sub-triangular and the upper edge is sub-oval in cross section.The outer face of the leg has a prominent vertical ridge which is triangular in section and tapers towards the base. There is evidence of sooting. Due to its size,it is probably from a cauldron. These are problematic to date closely when found out of contex as they were used over a long time span; however, it almost certainly dates from the Late Medieval to post-Medieval periods. The leg is sub-rectangular in plan and plano-convex in cross-section, with a prominent transverse collar dividing the foot and leg, with the latter lost to an old break. The inside edge is flat and plain, whilst the foot has five prominent longitudinal ridges down its front. Dimensions: length 46.7mm; width 26.1mm; thickness 18.0mm; weight 68.01g. Butler, Green & Payne (2009) classify such legs as their type C, in use by the 16th century and ubiquitous by the 17th.

A cast copper alloy vessel leg from a cauldron or (more likely) a skillet. The leg is D sectioned and decorated with five parallel longitudinal ridges. The foot is rounded with a flattened and worn tip. At the top is a remnant of thin vessel wall with a smooth inner surface. A Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot foot with a small remnant of the pot attached, dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The foot is triangular in cross-section, tapering downwards. There are three longitudinal, convex raised ribs running down the front, the central rib protruding further than the others (thus forming the triangular cross-section), and extending further up as it joins the remnant of the pot body. A fragment of a copper alloy post Medieval vessel, some kind of small cooking pot (perhaps a pipkin, posnet or skillet), being part of one of the legs, dating to cAD 1500 - 1700. It is broadly sub-triangular in cross section, with a moulded transverse collar close to the upper terminal. The leg has broken off at an early date above this collar. Possibly a cast copper alloy fragment from a two-part handle from a drinking vessel (probably a tankard) of probable post medieval date (cAD1600 to 1800). The fragment consists only of the thumb rest. One end is a square based straight sided flat plate with two holes with the broken copper alloy rivets still in place. Above this, along the straight top edge, is the groove for the thumb rest bar. An incomplete cast copper alloy, drop handle from a chafing dish. A handle and an incomplete attachment lug that still freely articulates around the handle.
