An incomplete pair of Roman copper alloy tweezers, dating to cAD 50 - 400. Made from a strip of metal folded to leave a rounded possible suspension penannular loop at the fold, the strip then expanding down both arms to, in both cases, a straight cut at the lower end but one arm is shorter than the other and both are bent askew. It is uncertain whether or not the arms had 'nips' - a sharp bend at the extreme end of each arm to facilitate grip with delicate tasks - as both are missing to old breaks.
52.1mm in length; 4.4mm in width from 3.2mm at fold; 1.99g in weight

Below this, both arms are decorated with a transverse incised line and a framing outer line along the whole length. A pair of copper alloy tweezers of Roman to early medieval date (c. AD 43 - 900). The tweezers measure 48.46mm in length, 6.17mm in width, are 1.45mm thick and weigh 5.12g.
