A copper alloy trifid spoon handle terminal, probably dating to c. AD 1650-1720. The spoon handle is slightly bent and plain, terminating in a worn break at one end and flaring outwards into a tri-lobed trifid terminal at the other.
Reference: Egan (2005: 118, no. 578) publishes an unstratified trifid spoon featuring counterfeit hallmarks dating the spoon to the mid-17th century at the earliest. Homer (1975: 43) suggests that this style of spoon first appeared soon after 1660 and went out of fashion by c. 1700. cf. GLO-BD726C on this database

An incomplete Post Medieval pewter handle, probably of a spoon. The top of the handle was likely teardrop shaped, which can be inferred from the teardrop decoration, created by grooves with a dot infill. There is then a pair of incised lines at the point of the teardrop, where the handle extends to its widest point, before tapering until the point where it has been been broken. An etched circle, also with dot infill (larger than that of the teardrop), rests centrally on the edge of the incised lines, with ring and dot decoration in the centre. Two curved grooves extend to the edges of…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment of an early Post-Medieval spoon, dating c. 1550-1650. Only the base of the handle and the upper section of the bowl survive, with the rest of the object broken away in old damage.
