A group of 22 lead shot dating to the period c. AD 1700-1800.  The weights range from 27.32g - 30.95g per shot, and accounting for a small amount of weight loss during firing or from aggressive soil conditions, most then fall into the calibre for 18th century muskets (c. 14 1/2 bore). All are round ball type shot, and all show some evidence of firing (varying banding, gouging, powder pitting and some examples of impact deformation). Diameters range between 17.03mm - 19.84mm, with most falling in the 17mm - 18mm group.

A cast lead-alloy shot from the post-Medieval period (c.1600-c.1800). The ball has no evidence of a casting seam or sprue and would be ready for use.It appears to be unfired. The size and weight of the ball suggest a probable musket shot. It measures 17.30 mm in diameter, and weighs 27 grams.The object has a greyish/white patina.

A large lead musket ball. A slightly irregular sub-spherical ball with tarcs o f a casting line around the equator. Cast in a mould. The weight is appropriate for musket shot rather than smaller bore arms such as pistols and carbines. Date: Post medieval - c. 16th to 18th century Dimensions: 20.66 mm x 19.96 Weight: 45.88 mm
