The remains of the purse bar include the two horizontal arms which would have formed the upper part of the frame and the loop and shank which now sits loose in the central block and can be removed. One arm of a copper alloy purse bar dating to c.1450-1500 of Ward Perkins type A2. The bar has a thin oval cross section, it tapers to a narrow circular sectioned knop. There are traces of two integral pierced lobes on the lower edge of the arm for attachment of a leather or fabric purse, one is almost complete. Fragment of a Medieval to Post-Medieval cast copper alloy purse bar dating to c.AD 1450 to 1550. The fragment consists of one arm with an integral spherical terminal surviving for 29.3 mm in length to an old break. The arm is circular in cross-section and measures 5.2 mm in diameter. The terminal is spherical and decorated with six twisting grooves. It measures 11.2 mm in diameter. The piece has a green patina and small areas of superficial corrosion. The fragment of the central has a vertical groove which is the remnant of a central aperture. The arm, circular in cross-section, projects from the jaws of a zoomorphic moulding. An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy purse frame, dating from the 14th Century. The remains of the purse frame consist of an incomplete curved arm with two remaining lugs with circular sewing holes, one slightly larger than the other, one hole clear and the other obscured with corrosion.
