A fragment of copper alloy purse frame. A part of the frame (which has been bent into a circle) only, the bar and suspension loop are missing. The frame has a circular cross section. On the upper face of the frame there is a small area of symmetrical incised line decoration comprising two diagonal incised grooves flanked by a vertical lines each side, flanked by one long chevron each side. A complete cast copper-alloy purse frame. It comprises a bar (a central block with short arms) , a swivelling suspension loop and a circular frame. The frame is oval with a circular cross section. On the upper face of the frame on the edge opposite the bar and loop, there is a small area of incised line decoration comprising three vertical lines flanked by two long chevrons. A fragment of a copper alloy purse bar (Williams Class J). One arm of the bar remains. The arm has an oval cross section and terminates in an expanded globular knop with a circumferential ridge and a groove across the diameter. Date: Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval - c. 1440 - 1600 Dimensions: 40.85 mm x 10.77 mm (shaft diameter 3.90 mm) Weight: 7.17 g See database records DOR-547E80. The purse bar originally had a central block, a second arm, and swivelled suspension loop attached to the central block.

An incomplete copper alloy purse bar with loop, dating to c. 1500 - 1550. The remains of the purse bar include the two horizontal arms which would have formed the upper part of the frame and the loop and shank which now sits loose in the central block and can be removed. The remainder of the frame is now missing. The purse bar has a tapering oval shaped attached loop, this tapers into a rounded rectangular collar. A medieval or post medieval copper alloy purse bar dating to the period c. AD 1450 - 1550. It consists of a vertical bar which passes through a horizontal bar. It exhibits a vertical bar which consists of a trapezoidal loop which tapers into an oval stem and then narrows to form a a circular cross-sectioned bar which passes through a circular perforation in the horizontal bar.
