A post-medieval (1600-1800) copper alloy furniture mount in the form of a stag's head with moulded eyes, snout and ears, and antlers projecting from the top of the head. The reverse is concave except behind the lower snout, which is solid. Here is the remains of a circular-sectioned integral shank, 4.5mm in diameter (surviving to a length of c.2mm). A cast copper-alloy openwork mount of post-medieval date (c. 17th century). The object is broadly hexagonal in form with incurved sides and knopped protrusions at the apexes. There is a central perforation flanked at the cardinal points by shallowly moulded semicircles. Around this are twelve equally spaced holes that follow the sides. Some of these have not been finished in their filing. Basic diverging mouldings flank these holes, widening and they approach the sides. There is a further small transverse moulding before each knop. On the flat reverse surface are two pointed lugs at t…

A mount cast in copper alloy of probable late medieval date (early 16th century).  The object is an elaborate shield shape, with rounded short sides and cusped longer sides.  The long sides are formed of two semicircular removals that form points.  Towards the apexes on the shorter sides are small perforated semicircular protrusions for attachment; no rivets survive.  The upper surface bears engraved decoration in the form of a figure standing slightly to the left (when viewed) within a border that follows the line of the object. The detail is obscured by wear and corrosion, but …

A worn but complete cast copper-alloy post-medieval mount. The mount is asymmetrical, terminating in a crude trifoliate head, with lozengiform central fleur. Below this the body expands before contracting to a small rounded element which itself terminates in a crude knop. The mount is of a dark red-brown colour with small patches of green corrosion product, and slight traces of gilding. On the reverse is a pair of pointed lugs bent round towards each other: one is towards the base of the trefoil, the other at the junction of the body and circular element; this latter has been bent sli…
