A copper alloy knife end cap or stop. A rectangular copper alloy stop decorated with three rounded lobes on the upper edge. Each of the lobes has a circular aperture. It has an rectangular cross section. Below the tri-lobed upper edge both the faces of the stop are decorated with obtuse engled cross hatched incised lines. There are incised lines along the vertical edges of the two faces. The sides of the stop are wedge-shaped in profile. On the underside of the stop is the remnant of the iron tang of the missing knife, extending into a rectangular slot evident part way up the sides..…

A bifacially worked knife made on a small flake of Portland chert. The chert is opaque and dark grey in colour with a low-gloss patina, the knife is pointed-oval at the distal end and rounded-oval at the proximal end. Both faces have semi-invasive, scalar low angle retouch to the side margins, the ventral face still has its bulb of percussion with bulbar scar and is slightly incurved, the low bulb indicates probable use of a soft hammer. The tip has snapped off probably due to post-depositional damage. Date: Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age - 3300 to 1600 BC. Dimensions: 35.6m…

A unifacially worked knife made on a flake of Portland chert. The chert is opaque and dark grey in colour with a low-gloss patina, the knife is sub-triangular in shape with a triangular cross section. The dorsal face right side margin shows semi invasive scaled, semi abrupt retouch, possibly pressure flaked, this extends around the proximal end and part of the distal end. The ventral face shows a low bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a soft hammer, however there are strong ripples and a bulbar scar. There is slight flaking to straighten the left side edge, this would class…

A unifacially worked knife made on a large flake of Portland chert. The chert is opaque and dark to mid grey in colour with a low gloss patina, the knife is oval with an irregular triangular cross section. The bulb of percussion has been removed from the ventral face; semi invasive, scalar low angle retouch is visible along medial parts of both margins; one edge has and area of fine long, scalar, low angle retouch to the distal end, which may be use-damage or post-depositional as it is discontinuous. Note the high gloss areas on the dorsal surface are unlikely to be edge-gloss, more l…

A probable flint knife dating from the Neolithic to Early Bronze Age (c. 4000 to 1600 BC). A large piece of orange-brown flint with off- white coretex on one face. The dorsal face shows evidence of possible polish at one end and there has been clear knapping on both faces around the unbroken parts of the margin. At one end is a clear break on one side of it and this suggests that it is part of what was once a larger tool. There is no clear bulb of production or striking platform. A small bifacially flaked 'Laurel leaf' knife, made on a secondary flint flake and broken at one end. The knife is sub-oval to lozenge shaped. Both faces show covering, scalar, low angle working, possibly by direct percussion flaking, except for one small area of thick nodular cortex which covers around ten percent of one face. The cross-section is crudely lenticular and the edges are irregular. The flint is semi-translucent mid browny grey with pale matt grey patches and a high gloss patina. A bifacially worked discoidal knife made on a bi-convex, sub-oval, tertiary flake of dark grey flint (visible on areas of flaking due to modern damage). The flint is opaque and covered in a blue-white re-cortification with a low-gloss patina and areas of common reddish brown ferrous stains. Multiple broad flake and narrow blade removal scars are visible across both faces and the margins show crossed abrupt retouch to create a keeled edge around the whole object. Date: Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age - 3500 to 1600 BC. Dimensions: 62.1mm x 52.2mm x 22.5mm. Weight: 80.8g.

A probable bifacially worked 'laurel leaf knife' made on a tertiary flake of mottled grey flint with an incipient blue-grey mid-gloss patina. Sub-oval in shape with one face showing covering, scaled, low-angle retouch, possibly at least in part the result of pressure flaking; the other face has more semi-abrupt retouch along its margins, surrounding larger smooth percussion flaking scars.
