A worn and corroded iron guildhall type horseshoe of the Medieval period. The shoe has an arched frog and rectangular nail holes. The left branch tapers to a point and has three nail holes. The right branch is shorter, with a 90 degree calkin, two obvious nail holes and the edge of the third hole. Ivan G Sparkes notes that this type is from a draught-horse shoe, but this example is smaller and much lighter and although it shares the attributes of the larger shoe, it is probably for a saddle horse.

A corroded right branch of a probable medieval dove type horseshoe with evidence of a calkin at the heel. The branch has three sub-rectangular holes with recesses to accept T-shaped nails. The external edge appears to be a wavy line where the nail holes have been punched through. The toe section is thickened. It is unusual to see a thickened toe section on worn and corroded shoes and it is possible that this may be a half shoe. I believe half shoes were used on oxon. Although i have classed this as a dove shoe, the wavy edge may indicate an earlier date.
