A copper alloy dress hook dating to c.1600-1800. A blunt wire hook piece from a hook and eye clasp. The wire is circular in section for most of the length but has been flattened out at the end of the hook. A single piece of wire with an attachment loop at each end, bent into a long U-shape with the end curved upwards to form a hook. Reference: Read 2008, class A, Type 1, pg.153 no.583. Date: Post Medieval. Length: 23.39mm. Width: 14.04mm. Thickness: 1.57mm Weight: 1.44g.

A medieval copper alloy harbick, shear-board hook or havette of Read's Class C, Type 1 dating to the period c.AD 1400 - 1600. The havette is formed of a piece of sheet metal which has been cut into shape. The upper edges of the plate are bowed and taper to a flattened apex. At the apex of the plate is a drilled circular perforation. One one side of the plate there is a transverse groove running along the edge of the plate on either side of the perforation. The lower edge of the plate is straight. Each arm tapers to a sharp inward curved hook. Both faces are covered in filing striation…
