Two Palstave axeheads.
1] An early looped palstave of Western type. It has a broad, curved cutting There is a wide moulded central ridge on both faces which tapers and thins to around. There is a clear casting line visible
along both sides. The septum is U-shaped with a high , curved stop ridge on both faces. The flanges are curving and short so that the butt projects beyond them. The butt is straight at the end. There is a cast small side loop which has not been finished after casting.

The four objects were found within a small area (between 4 and 10 inches depth) on cultivated stubble, with ‘no other materials nearby’. The find was made on the 28th July 2016 in the course of metal detecting with the permission of the land-owner.
Description: The find consists of four Middle Bronze Age palstave (axeheads), three of local, English type (Nos. 1-2 & 4), and one of probable French type (No. 3).

Twisted spiral torcs/bracelets
1: An incomplete Middle Bronze Age cast copper alloy spiral-twisted torc dating to the ornament horizon (1400-1250 cal BC). Possibly only half of the torc survives due to a transverse break at its middle, the surviving portion consisting of a twisted body capped by a hooked terminal.

Circumstances of discovery
This small early third century aes hoard was found whilst using a metal-detector on cultivated field in an area of 20x10m, 29/09/2013.
Note
The latest coins were of Gordian III. One of either TR P IIII or V (i.e. up to AD 242), and the other, undated, type of Hercules probably slightly earlier. Nine stray base metal radiates and nummi were also recovered at the same time.
Conclusion
This find of 19 coins constitutes potential treasure under the Treasure Act 1996…

1] Axehead. A complete cast palstave axe head. The axehead has high side flanges which are lozenge-shaped in profile and are fused to the stop ridge. The tops of the flanges on both sides project above the stop, creating wing-like patterns. The stop ridges are rounded at the top, on one side the ridge is curved, while the other is straight. The vessels were found in the same location whilst metal detecting on ploughed soil in a field at a depth of about 14 inches. The vessels were in fragmentary condition due to plough damage, with only the bases intact. An excavation of the area of the find was subsequently carried out by Terrain Archaeology.
