A copper alloy heraldic harness pendant with enamel decoration. The pendant is shield shaped with a straight top and convex sides which meet at a point at the bottom. From the middle of the top edge projects a transverse suspension loop. On the front is moulded design of six crosses pommee divided by a horizontal bend. A worn copper-alloy harness pendant of medieval date, broken through the top of the apex loop but otherwise complete. The form of the artefact is that of an 'elaborate quatrefoil' (Ward Perkins's (1940, 118) Type V), that is, with lozengiform protrusions between the semicircles. Cast copper alloy horse harness pendant, circular in plan and hemi-sperical in profile, with a hollow back. The suspension loop is perpendicular to the pendant and has a narrow neck, that is 3 mm thick and 5 mm wide, and a curved apex with a circular hole that is 2.8 mm in diameter. It is plain on both surfaces with no traces of gilding, but the original surface has corroded away. Read (2001) illustrates a similar harness pendant on page 56, fig.35, no.438, which is dated from the 14th century.
