A copper alloy horse harness pendant. The plate is trapezoidal in shape and has a circular hole pierced through it towards the lower edge. There are traces of possible decoration on one face, but the surface is too corroded to be certain of what this comprises. At the centre of the upper edge is a suspension loop with a small circular hole, two of the corners of the plate have been bent inwards. An incomplete sheet copper-alloy harness pendant and suspension mount. The suspension mount is formed from a sub-triangular piece of cut sheet metal which is now torn along one side. At the bottom is an oval folded tab with a central truncated lozengiform aperture which housed a copper alloy axis bar for the attachment of the harness pendant. Cast copper alloy horse harness pendant, circular in plan and hemi-sperical in profile, with a hollow back. The suspension loop is perpendicular to the pendant and has a narrow neck, that is 3 mm thick and 5 mm wide, and a curved apex with a circular hole that is 2.8 mm in diameter. It is plain on both surfaces with no traces of gilding, but the original surface has corroded away. Read (2001) illustrates a similar harness pendant on page 56, fig.35, no.438, which is dated from the 14th century.

The pendant is lozenge shaped with a short rectangular stem projecting from the top point, terminating in a suspension loop set at a ninety degree angle to the body of the object. A complete lozenge-shaped copper alloy harness pendant from the medieval period (c. 13th-14th century). The pendant bears the arms, Gules a cross or fretty cantonned by four mullets or (a red field divided by a cross-hatched cross, with a mullet of six points (pierced star) in each quarter); these arms have so far not been traced. The suspension loop is set at ninety degrees to the pendant and is slightly bent, but complete with a circular aperture. The length of the pendant is 37.67 mm with a width of 29.02 mm. and a thickness of 2.9 mm. The object weighs 8.797 g.

An enamelled copper-alloy object, probably representing a medieval harness pendant of c irca 1300-1450 .The object is circular, of flat section, with two opposing attachment loops to the external edge. One loop is incomplete, probably due to wear. The red enamel remaining occupies the fields around a plain, double-stranded cross fleuretty which would originally have been gilded or silvered.The red enamel has disintergrated and is in a poor state. The back is plain. This is probably the central piece in a three-part harness pendant. Diameter: 21.35 mm. Thickness: 1.92 mm. Weight: 4.159 grams.

The front depicts a left facing lion passant with a long tail within a beaded border with cusps: on clearer examples there are a total of seven tendrils that spring inwardly in an anti-clockwise direction.
