A copper alloy sheet metal harness mount hammered. The mount is oval with two integral suspension loops at one side which have circular holes in the centre. On the opposite side are breaks for a pair of opposing loops, now missing. A central hole has been pierced through the main plate. On the lower edge are two stubs for a missing hooked and split suspension loop.Thefront face of the plate is decorated with cross hatched incised pairs of diagonal lines forming lozengiform sections. It is roughly 'H' shaped, with the two curved uprights, of D-shaped cross-section which are linked at their closest point by an integrally cast oval cross bar with flat back and front and curved sides. The uprights are both incomplete with on complete and one broken end. The complete ends are near the oval cross bar and end in slightly flattened circular terminals. An incomplete medieval copper-alloy and gilt harness pendant suspension mount or hanger, dating to c AD1200 - 1400. The suspension mount consists of a long bar, c.8.78mm wide and c 52.36mm in length, with end bosses, and a pair of pierced loops projecting from the centre to one side only (19.70mm wide here). The mount is T-shaped in plan with the arms having bevelled edges on the front face and with two integral rivets expanding from the otherwise flat reverse.
