A complete harness hook. The hook comprises a shield shaped plate with a transverse collar and an integral curving hook. The upper part of the object is a shield-shaped plate decorated on both faces with an heraldic white enamelled beast with a long tail, possibly a leopard, lying left. There are tiny traces of gilding in the surrounding field. At the pointed end of the shield is an integral sub square collar, also with traces of gilding. A cast copper-alloy hooked mount, generally described as a harness hook, with a zoomorphic terminal. At the top is a large conical stop from the base of which protrudes a long D-sectioned integral hook which curves forward at the tip. The stop is thicker than the hook and has a sub-circular cross-section. It is shallowly faceted, and tapers to a zoomorphic terminal.
