A cast copper alloy flanged axehead. The axe has a low proto stop-ridge. The cast side flanges are high and straight with curved upper an lower edges tapering to a point at the butt. There is some damage to the butt of the axehead. The blade is short and slightly flared. It terminates in a widely flared, curving cutting edge. The reddish-brown surface patination is even and smooth. It is similar to LANCUM-87FCE0 on the pAS database. A developed flat axe with hammer raised flanges of later Early Bronze Age date (c. 2000 - 1700 BC) specifically of the axe type Arreton which is dated to Early Bronze Age III, of metalworking stage V, which corresponds to Needham's (1996) Period 3 circa 2000 - 1700 CAL BC. This axehead is broadly sub-rectangular with an expanded crescent shaped blade. The butt is narrow and rounded and measures 22mm in width and is 3.4mm thick.
